We began the day with loading up the Navigator for our 5 day road trip. A stop at Starbucks for coffee and for Oatmeal for Kay, then a stop at the Donut Hole for a couple of breakfast treats for the Ken's and we were on the road.

We followed Route 98 along the coast, travelling through Panama City and then on to Apalachacola (the Oyster Capital of the World). Apalachacola is a cool and quiet little fishing village that is feeling the bite of the economy. Many vacant buildings and crumbling homes and facilities. It is a cute place but a bit sad to see it in the current condition. All along the coast of our travels, it seems that Florida is up for sale. About 50 of the homes along the coast are for sale.

We arrived in Perry Floriday at about noon so decided to stop for lunch. Ken W said that you can never go wrong with a good old downtown café so we found the city square and located Joyce's Downtown Café. Well, we have another theory that has now been dispelled. We should have driven on a few more miles and found something better. We choked down the food and boarded the Navigator

Along the way, we stopped for a Dairy Queen Blizzard Break as a reprieve to the lunch and on the road again.

We arrived at the Engers in Anna Maria at about 6:30 pm. Marcia and Don of course had prepared a great meal for us and we had a wonderful evening of relaxing at home!

As this was a travel day, there are no photos along the way. Didn't take the time to stop. Our loss.
