Calm seas once again today and a bright sunny morning. It is still cool in the mornings but has warmed up to about 60 during the day.
We had an early morning today as we were going to early church at Resurrection Catholic Church for 8 am Mass. When we arrived, we once again had Bridget the golden Labrador greeting us. She tries desperately to greet every member as they arrived. It was a nice service and afterwards, Bridget was once again collecting the hymnals at the door. I got a photo but it is a bit on the dark side. Many of the members had treats for her in their pocket so she is well fed.
After the service we went to "Another Broken Egg" Restaurant for breakfast. It is a great spot for breakfast and there are several in the Florida coastal area. Highly recommended!
A quick trip home to change clothes, catch a 20 minute snooze watching news (snooze and news), then we headed out to scout out new territory.
We went to the Baytowne Wharf Village in Sandestin, a small resort community just east of Miramar Beach where we are staying. The Village is designed to resemble a European fishing village, is quite rustic and includes many restaurants, bars and evening entertainment locations. For daytime, it has several venue of entertainment for children including a zip line, bungee jump and a rope climbing facility that is pretty neat for brave kids.
When we left the village we headed for the Sunday afternoon concert at Harborwalk Village. We have attended the Sunday concerts there for the past two weeks. Today was the Northwest Florida State College Jazz Band and then their Show Choir. Two great venues. The band played for about an hour and then the show choir went 50 minutes non stop with a medley of songs from the 60's and 70's. It was great.
Following the concert we walked the Harbor to see if any fishing boats had just come in. We were in luck as one had just arrived. They had a pretty good catch for the day. The photos for today show the catch which included the following: The large fish on each side were Amber Jack, the large fish in the center is a Warsaw Grouper. The small reddish fish are Mingo Snapper and the silvery small fish are white snapper. The group had been out for eight hours today and had gone out about 30 miles from shore. The Ken's think they will take a day to go out in a week or so.
Then came our trip to Sam's to pick up some staples for the next couple of weeks. Laid in some provisions and then headed back to Miramar Beach. We stopped at Destin Ice Seafood Market to pick up our fish for dinner tonight. Today's choice is Mahi Mahi which we will prepare with a Coconut Crust. Turns out that it was good but not our favorite.
We have now prepared, Amber Jack, Grouper, Shrimp, Crab Fingers, Red Snapper, Mahi Mahi and Yellow Fin Tuna for our fresh fish experiments. We most often eat fish when we are out to lunch or dinner also as it is so good this close to the coast.
